It's Time to Gear Up for Winter Storm Preparedness Weekend!

Dumpsters are being dropped off today in preparation for the next two days...where the community has the opportunity to dump all yard trimmings, branches, plants, and whatever else could wind up clogging our storm drains and gutters once the rainy season starts. This citywide effort is a preventative measure taken every year to prevent flooding and damage to personal property as well as our storm drains. With 2008 marking the 11th consecutive year the Annual Winter Clean Up has taken place, there is a clear benefit seen when we all pitch in and make sure our individual yards are properly maintained. And what better time to get this done than now, when the sun's still shining!

But before you roll up your sleeves and start trimming and hauling, please keep the following in mind:
  • Do NOT place yard trimmings in plastic garbage bags when disposing of them in the dumpsters - this makes the entire load unrecyclable.
  • All trimmings and branches placed into a dumpster MUST BE LESS THAN 4 INCHES IN DIAMETER
  • NO RUBBISH OR OTHER WASTE IS TO BE DISPOSED OF IN THESE DUMPSTERS
  • If you need assistance or to arrange for pickup, please call the Public Works Dept. at 508-2130 between 10:00 am - 3:00 pm on Saturday Nov. 15th or between the hours of 9:00 am - 1:00 pm Sunday the 16th. Again, no branches or logs larger than 4 inches in diameter or 6 ft. in length will be picked up by city maintenance crews. For information regarding tree removal, please call the City Manager's Office at 508-2112.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation and pitching in to help make sure our storm drains and gutters are as clear from debris as possible this winter!
