In efforts to increase the distribution of real-time emergency information to the Brisbane community, the City will be acquiring a message overlay system, which it will use on Channel 27. The digital signage system is being paid for by a Comcast-provided Public, Educational, and Governmental (PEG) Access Capital Grant and will allow the City to program messages in that can then be set to scroll across the bottom of your TV screen. We’ll let you know when the digital signage system is all set up and ready to go. We just wanted to give a heads-up now so that the community is aware of the fact that Ch. 27 is being further optimized to be a more robust resource for receiving breaking emergency news and information.

In the past, even with a smaller police department, we used to have the officers during their night shift carefully watching the only two access points to central Brisbane.
What is the department's current strategy of stopping criminal visitors?
Thanks for your comment. As far as a strategy for stopping criminal visitors goes, the Police Dept. is continuing to be vigilant about any suspicious activity, but greatly needs the residents and community of Brisbane to call in ANY suspicious persons, cars, or activity they may see OR HEAR in town. There is nothing more important that the safety of our residents, and there is no one better than them when it comes to being the Police Dept’s eyes on their streets. Please call the Police Dept. at 467-1212 at ANY time of day to report anything out of the ordinary. More information is always better than not enough – and it’s your tips that will add to the safety and welfare of our town.
Concerning your statement about having two officers stationed at the two access points into central Brisbane…what may have been OK in the past is not any longer, as there now exists Crocker Industrial Park, the Marina, and Northeast Ridge. So in effect, there are now actually 5 access points into town – Bayshore @ San Bruno, Tunnel Ave. @ 101, Old County Rd. @ Park, and 2 roads in the Northeast Ridge (1 leading into Crocker Park and 1 leading to the residential area). All of these areas need to be patrolled during the nighttime hours, if the safety of the community is to be effectively safeguarded.
